Künker sale 423, lot 4

This specimen was lot 4 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €260 (about US$368 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · TIROL, GRAFSCHAFT, Erzherzog Sigismund, der Münzreiche, 1446-1496. Sechser o. J., Hall. Stempelschneider Wolfgang Peck. Geharnischtes Hüftbild r. mit Erzherzogshut und umgelegtem Mantel, mit der Rechten das Zepter schulternd, die Linke am Schwertgriff//Kreuz, in den Winkeln die Wappenschilde von Österreich, Kärnten, Steiermark und Tirol. Kl. Randverprägung, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Heinz-W. Müller 24, Solingen 1978, Nr. 1138. (Holy Roman Empire, county of Tyrol, archduke Sigismund the Rich, 1446-96, undated six kreuzer, Hall mint. Obverse: armored, capped and mantled half-length bust right with scepter and sword; reverse: cross cantonned with the arms of Austria, Carinthia, Styria and Tyrol. Round strike, extremely fine.)"

This type is attributed to 1482-89 in Numista. This is the period of the first thalers, which were worth sixty kreuzer.
