Sincona sale 77, lot 3504

This specimen was lot 3504 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 62,671 CHF (about US$76,070 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUSTRALIEN. Elisabeth II. seit 1952. 3000 Dollars 2001. Snake. Feingewicht: 1000 Gramm. Polierte Platte. (commonwealth of Australia, Elizabeth II, since 1952, three thousand dollars of 2001, Year of the Snake. Choice Proof.)"

The SCWC notes three different catalog numbers for this denomination in 2001; this one and a similar $3000 with the Perth mintmark (KM 1335).

Specification: 1000 g, 0.999 fine gold, 100 mm diameter.
