This specimen was lot 40013 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. 6 Pence, 1936. Melbourne Mint. NGC MS-66+. A common date in seldom encountered quality, offering a full strike and light, original toning. Surpassed in the NGC census by just one specimen." The type was issued 1911-36 with Melbourne being the sole producer after 1926. This Melbourne date is the most common up thru extremely fine but the proofs are rare.
