This specimen was lot 70252 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Penny, 1924. Melbourne or Sydney Mint. George V. NGC MS-62 Red Brown. Indian Obverse. The Penny presents streaks of bright original mint red and incredibly charming details, despite some light evidence of handling consistent for the grade assigned." The type was struck 1911-36 at London, Calcutta, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Heaton. This date is expensive in choice condition. Both Sydney and Melbourne struck this date but there is no mintmark separating the products of the two mints.

Recorded mintage: 4,656,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 9.4 g, bronze, 30.8 mm diameter, plain edge.
