Heritage sale 3076, lot 31021
Australia H3076-31021r.jpg

This specimen was lot 31021 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Australia. George V Penny 1925-(m) MS64 Brown PCGS, Melbourne mint. Conditionally speaking, the rarest date in the Australian Penny series, aside from the nearly unattainable 1930. This issue is virtually never found in such high-grade condition, and displays an attractive brown patina, darker on the obverse, and vibrant luster. We note that this exact coin previously hammered for 15,000 AUD in a Noble Numismatics Sale (Auction 112, Lot 3234). A scarce issue, especially rare in Mint State."

Recorded mintage: 1,147,000, Melbourne only, a better date.

Specification: 9.4 g, bronze, 30.8 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 23.
