Australia 1918-I penny
This specimen was lot 29037 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Penny 1918-(I) MS63 Red and Brown PCGS, Calcutta mint. Struck at the Calcutta mint, this is a choice example with gleaming luster underneath lightly dappled red-brown tone. A small obverse mark on George's cheek is notated in the grade. Eye-catching and lovely. Ex. Borg Collection. From The Prager Collection Of Australian Coins." The type was struck 1911-36 at London, Calcutta (this specimen), Melbourne, Sydney and Heaton. The Calcutta Mint produced this type 1916-18. This date is very scarce.
