Sincona sale 59, lot 1045

This specimen was lot 1045 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$424 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Australien, George V. 1910-1936. Sovereign 1917 M, Melbourne. NGC MS64. (Australia, George V, 1910-36, sovereign of 1917, Melbourne mint. Uncirculated.)"

This type, struck 1911-31 at Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, is identical to the ordinary British sovereign in every respect except for the mintmark.

Recorded mintage: 934,000.

Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.234 troy oz AGW.
