This specimen was lot 72013 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Sovereign, 1900-S. NGC MS-64. Nicely struck with good luster and excellent eye appeal." The Sydney and Melbourne mints issued large quantities of these "old head" sovereigns 1893-1901 with the Perth mint contributing starting in 1899. This is a common date.
