This specimen was lot 74291 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Sovereign, 1901-M. Melbourne Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-62. Veiled head design with St. George and the dragon, reverse. First class golden luster." The Sydney and Melbourne mints issued large quantities of these "old head" sovereigns 1893-1901 with the Perth mint contributing starting in 1899. This is a common date.
