This specimen was lot 40524 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Augsburg. Taler, 1639. NGC MS-62. Heinrich V von Kroningen (1598-1646). Dark toned, sharply struck. Demarete Collection." This type was struck 1639-45 in sufficient numbers that the coin is fairly common today in circulated condition. The bishop of Augsburg also struck thalers but they are rare.
