Aragon (1063-94) dinero
This specimen was lot 516 in Jean Elsen sale 164 (Brussels, March 2026), where it sold for €340 (about US$473 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ESPAGNE, ARAGON, Sancho Ramirez (1063-1094), AR dinero, Jaca. D/ SANCIVS REX T. nue à g. R/ Croix aragonaise, dans une fleur, entre ARA-GON. Rare. Tranche irrégulière. Très Beau. (kingdom of Aragon, Sancho Ramirez, 1063-94, silver dinero, Jaca mint. Obverse: bare head left; reverse: Aragonese cross over a flower, dividing "ARA-GON". Rare, irregular edge, Very Fine.)"
Cayón notes this type comes with the king's head left (shown here) or right (Cayón-1760) or with "IAC-CA" instead of "ARA-GON" on the reverse (Cayón-1761). This dynasty of Navarrese kings ruled 1035-1162.
