This specimen was lot 1141 in Jean Elsen sale 149 (Brussels, December 2021), where it sold for €150 (about US$203 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, ANHALT-BERNBURG, Viktor Friedrich (1721-1765), AR 1/3 Taler, 1727IIG. D/ Armoiries sous une couronne. R/ Ours couronné à g. sur un mur. Très Beau. (Germany, principality of Anhalt-Bernburg, Victor Frederick, 1721-65, silver one-third thaler of 1727. Obverse: crowned arms; reverse: crowned bear to left, on a wall. Very Fine.)"
The principality of Anhalt-Bernburg was created by the division of Anhalt in 1468 and the line survived until 1863. Six dates are known for this type between 1727-50 but it is priced the same as the larger two-thirds thaler or gulden. This state issued few thalers, all rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 6,51 g.
