This specimen was lot 70226 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "ANGOLA. 2 Centavos, 1921. Lisbon Mint. NGC MS-63 Brown. Quite choice and rather robust, this enchanting Mint State copper issue exudes a fair amount of lustrous brilliance remaining, fully emanating from the protected areas." This type was struck 1921 only and is rather scarce. It was accompanied by a centavo and five centavos. After a protracted struggle, Angola obtained its independence in 1975 and then dissolved into civil war as various factions contended for control.
