This specimen was lot 3622 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $214.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "ANGOLA: Portuguese Colony, AE centavo, 1921, one-year type, NGC graded MS65 RB." This type was struck 1921 only for the Portuguese colony of Angola on the west coast of Africa south of the Congo. It was accompanied by a bronze two centavos and five centavos (KM 61 and 62) and copper-nickel ten and twenty centavos (KM 70 and 64). After a protracted struggle, Angola obtained its independence in 1975 and then dissolved into civil war as various factions contended for control.
