Afghanistan SH1305(8) 2-1/2 afghanis
This specimen was lot 3611 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Amanullah, 1919-1929, AR 2-1/2 afghani, SH1305 year 8, toughra, denomination above // mosque, both sides within wreath, choice XF, RR, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection. SH1305 is much rarer than 1306, and there is just one dated 1305 on CoinArchives, with about twenty dated SH1306." Coins of this period are sometimes dated on the traditional Muslim calendar, or on the Solar Hegira calendar, as here, which starts on the same date as the traditional Hegira calendar but uses solar years rather than lunar years. One hundred pul made an afghani. This type was struck SH 1305-1306 (years 8 and 9).
