Steve Album sale 54, lot 2072

This specimen was lot 2072 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "DURRANI: Ayyub Shah, 1817-1829, AE falus, Peshawar, AH1237, lovely example of this crudely manufactured type, overstruck on an earlier type as always, clear date, strong VF, R." This falus was struck AH 1234-1240 and is common. Numista states one rupee was 64 falus. Wikipedia comments,

"Mahmud Shah Durrani (born Mahmud Mirza Durrani; c. 1769 – 18 April 1829) was the fourth ruler of the Durrani Empire. He reigned from 1801 to 1803 and again from 1809 to 1818. From 1818 to 1829, he ruled Herat."
