Stephen Album sale 50, lot 462

This specimen was lot 462 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "DURRANI: Taimur Shah, 1772-1793, AV mohur, Kabul, AH1188 year 3, NGC graded AU55." This type is listed in the SCWC for years 1 thru 18. The date "٣" is visible on the lower part of the reverse. It is the most available gold coin of the Durranis. Taimur Shah was the second Durrani king and had to contend with rebellious tribal chiefs and the Sikhs, who had seized Multan, Lahore and Sindh. He left many sons, who fought among themselves for the throne while the kingdom broke up.
