Künker sale 352, lot 1784

This specimen was lot 1784 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,454 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BAYERN, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, Maximilian I. (IV.) Joseph, 1799-1806-1825. Dukat 1822. GOLD. Prachtexemplar. Erstabschlag. Fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian IV Joseph, ducat of 1822. Choice example, first strike, about uncirculated.)"

This ducat was struck 1807-22 but remains scarce despite the many years of production.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.
