Steve Album sale 38, lot 1728
Italy SA38-1728r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1728 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NAPLES: Filippo III, 1598-1621, AR ½ carlino, ND, light obverse haymarking, a bit weak at edge, Fine, R (MIR)." The SCWC notes initials IAF/G, GF/GI and G/GF for this undated type. As this example is crudely struck and quite worn, we're not sure which initials this one is but we favor the last. Other types (KM 6, 13, 14, 15, 16, KM 17) were struck during this reign but those feature the Golden Fleece on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 1.25 g, silver, 15 mm diameter, this specimen 1.28 g.

Catalog reference: KM-5, MIR-217/2.
