Jean Elsen sale 158, lot 1865

This specimen was lot 1865 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €120 (about US$156 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ALLEMAGNE, HANOVRE, Georg V (1851-1866), AR Vereinstaler, 1861 B. Fines griffes. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (Germany, kingdom of Hannover, George V, 1851-66, silver union thaler of 1861. Fine scratches, Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

This type was minted in substantial numbers 1857-66. In 1866, Hannover was swallowed up by Prussia and the coinage ended.

Reported Mintage: 736,446.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, lettered edge.
