This specimen was lot 43387 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. 2 Francs, 1808-Q. Perpignan Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS VF-35. Boasting a very paltry mintage figure, this RARITY, though somewhat circulated, stands as the only such representative of the type in the PCGS census. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Lepczyk in 1984 for $85). Ex: George Sobin Collection (Joseph Lepczyk - 3/1984) Lot # 1242." Most of the product of the Perpignan mint, including this one, is rare. This design added a laurel wreath to Napoleon's bust. In 1809, the reverse was revised to read "EMPIRE FRANÇAISE".
