Brazil 1893 20 reis rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is a copper twenty réis of the United States of Brazil, struck 1889-1912. It is accompanied by a similar forty réis (KM 491). Despite the low mintage, it is catalogued as a common date. The twenty réis, a descendant of the twenty réis of colonial times, ceased production after 1912 and was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel twenty réis.

Recorded mintage: 250,000.

Specification: 7.49 g, bronze, 25 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 490.
