Künker Auction 426, lot 3599

This specimen was lot 3599 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,345 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM August Wilhelm, 1714-1731. Reichstaler 1726, Zellerfeld. Prachtexemplar. Feiner Prägeglanz, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Augustus William, 1714-31, thaler of 1726, Zellerfeld mint. Cabinet example, fine luster, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1714-30 and is fairly common. A second thaler (Dav-2127), struck 1716-30, featured the leaping stallion, and a third (Dav-2135, rare) had a bust obverse. One thaler was thirty-six mariengroschen.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 29.03 g, silver, this specimen 29,19 g.

Catalog reference: KM 739, Dav-2126; Welter 2376.
