This specimen was lot 3479 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €600 (about US$850 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Julius, 1568-1589. Reichstaler 1570, Goslar. Lichttaler. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Julius 1568-89, "light" thaler of 1570, Goslar mint. Very fine.)"

This "light" thaler was struck 1570-76 and is fairly common. The nickname derives from the candlestick held by the wild man.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: silver, this specimen 28,98 g.

Catalog reference: KM MB138, Welter 576; Dav-9060 A.
