from the Stack's Bowers 2019 ANA sale, lot 23580

This specimen was lot 23580 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. DANZIG. 1/4 Taler, 1625. Sigismund III. NGC MS-61. A well-struck specimen with clean surfaces and sharp details. Tastefully toned with a smoky hues and notes of gold and green." This type was struck 1623-26 and was called an ort but traded for a quarter thaler. It is noted as common.
