Künker Auction 425, lot 2605

This specimen was lot 2605 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,204 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN AB 1871 · BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND, 50 Pfennig 1950 G. Bank Deutscher Länder. Stempelglanz. Aus der Sammlung eines deutschen Fabrikanten und Geschichtsfreundes. (Germany, Federal Republic, fifty pfennig of 1950. Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1949-50 at four mints (Munich = D, Stuttgart = F, Karlsruhe = G, Hamburg = J) and is common. The kneeling woman planting a tree design was recycled for the BRD issues of 1950 and 1966-2002 (KM 109.1).

Recorded mintage: 30, 000, a rare date.

Specification: 3.5 g, copper nickel, 20 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 104, J. 379.
