East Germany 1950-A 50 pfennig

formerly in the Mountain Groan Collection

This coin was struck in Berlin for the communist puppet regime in 1949-50. The mintage recorded below is nearly all 1950's, as the 1949 is very rare. The Deutsche Demokratische Republik was officially established in the Soviet occupation zone in October 1949 but this coin merely states "Deutschland".

Recorded mintage: 67,703,405 for 1949-50.

Specification: 3.38 g, aluminum bronze, 20 mm diameter, plain edge.
