Heritage sale 3029, lot 31121

This specimen was lot 31121 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand I Taler 1556, Klagenfurt mint, XF Details (Mount Removed) NGC. An attractive example of this early Taler with gray and gold toning. The mount mark is quite small and has been skillfully repaired." This particular type is a very early thaler, struck 1556 only, and is a product of the Klagenfurt mint in Carinthia.
