Ponterio sale 168, lot 50314

This specimen was lot 50314 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $852. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler of 72 Kreuzer, 1556. Hall Mint. NGC AU-50. Ferdinand I (1521-64)." This particular type is a very early thaler, struck 1556-58, and is a product of the Hall mint in Tyrol.
