This specimen was lot 31108 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VI gold 2 Escudos 1759 Mo-MM AU50 NGC, Mexico City mint. Variety with the normal digit '9' in the date. Boldly struck and very attractive for the assigned grade, with only slight wear on the higher points and mild handling marks. Another unusually well-presented example of this very scarce type, also rare in this quality. The excessively rare 1758 date of this type (Cal-169) is unconfirmed by the cataloguer, yet should exist. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." This type was struck 1757 and 1759 in Mexico City and is the rarest of the three types of two escudos of Ferdinand VI.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.917 fine gold, .199 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Cayón-10778, KM 127, Cal-170.
