Augsburg 1767-T ducat Fr-109
This specimen was lot 23958 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $3,642.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Augsburg. Josef II gold Ducat 1767-T, MS64 NGC, an uncommonly attractive piece with reflective fields; the die flaw on the reverse above the pine cone is present on almost every known example of this type." The city of Augsburg only issued ducats on special occasions and are consequently they are quite scarce. This is the last ducat from this locale, which was annexed by Bavaria in the Napoleonic consolidations.
