This specimen was lot 75604 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 2000 Reis, 1888. Lisbon Mint. Luiz I. PCGS MS-63. An alluring Choice Mint State 2000 Reis, delivering bright luster, yielding sharp strike, and limited signs of actual handling." This is a rare date of a type struck 1868-78, 1881 and 1888 in low numbers.
