This specimen was lot 462 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 38,000 (about US$47,622 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Poltina 1817, St. Petersburg Mint, ПC. Novodel. Extremely rare! 10 roubles according to Iljin. Cabinet piece. Choice magnificent proof with beautiful golden patina." This type is listed for 1810-26 and is somewhat available in circulated condition. This date is common but the novodel, struck at a later date, is rare.
