This specimen was lot 2604 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$867 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Zofingen Kanton 5 Batzen 1815. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Aargau, five batzen of 1815, rare in this grade, choice uncirculated.)"
This type is listed for 1812-15 but this is the only common date. No coinage for Aargau exists prior to 1798, when it was admitted as a canton to the confederation.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver; this specimen is 4.35 g.
