Uri-Schwyz-Nidwalden (1548-49) 1/2 dicken
This specimen was lot 4505 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 4,500 CHF (about US$6,527 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Uri, Schwyz und Nidwalden, Halbdicken o. J. (1548/49), Altdorf. Die drei Standeswappen in Kleeblattstellung. Das Schwyzerwappen gepunktet. Rv. Brustbild des hl. Martin mit Mitra leicht nach links. Äusserst selten. Schön-sehr schön. Fassungsspuren. Exemplar der Slg. Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, Los 6087. (Switzerland, cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Nidwalden, undated half dicken, circa 1548-49, Altdorf mint. Obverse: three coats of arms in a cloverleaf configuration, the Schwyzer coat of arms is dotted. Reverse: Bust of St. Martin with miter, slightly to the left. Extremely rare, Fine-Very Fine, Traces of mounting.)"
Half a dicken was twelve kreuzer. Numista shows two half dickens from this period (HMZ 2-942b and 2-942a) but they have completely different designs.
