Mexico 2012 onza oro
This specimen was lot 1870 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 2,875 CHF (about US$4,170 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Estados Unidos Mexicanos, ab 1905. 1 Onza 2012, Mexico City. Selten. Nur 3'000 Exemplare geprägt. (United States of Mexico, since 1905, onza of 2012, Mexico mint. Rare. Only 3,000 specimens struck. PCGS MS70.)"
The gold libertad was first struck in 1981 and was redesigned as shown here in 2000. The 2014 is the last date shown in the SCWC but Numista lists dates as recent as 2023. They were also sold in half, quarter, tenth and 1/20 ounce sizes. No proofs were struck in 2012.
