Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 56529

This specimen was lot 56529 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Annas, 1883-(B). Bombay Mint. Victoria. PCGS AU-55. Type with bead." This type was struck 1877-1901 in substantial quantities at Bombay and Calcutta. It was the smallest denomination struck in silver. This date has a dot for a mintmark and is fairly common.

Recorded mintage: 4,416,000.
