Revision as of 10:15, 21 March 2025 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1807" to "Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814")
This specimen was lot 425 in Schulman auction 379 (Amsterdam, June 2024), where it sold for €650 (about US$835 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Norway - Krone 1680, Silver, CHRISTIAN V 1670-1699 Crowned monogram. Rev. crowned coat of arms. NGC AU53." This coin is a little small to be classed as a thaler (an honor more properly belonging to the contemporary six mark or specie daler), but it has a Davenport number so we will include it. It was struck 1669-80 and is somewhat available. It was struck 1669-80. Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814.
