Norway 1672-FG specie daler Dav-3653
This specimen was lot 1325 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 39,600 CHF (about US$48,067 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NORWAY. Christian V. 1670-1699. Speciedaler 1672, Christiania. Mit der Signatur FG (Frederik Grüner, Münzmeister in Christiania 1651-1674). Von grösster Seltenheit. Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC MS62. Prachtexemplar von schönster Erhaltung mit herrlicher Patina. (kingdom of Norway, Christian V, 1670-99, speciedaler of 1672, Christiania mint, mintmaster's initials "FG". Of the highest rarity, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Cabinet piece of extraordinary condition and wonderful patina.)"
This type was struck 1671-72 only. Another specie daler, KM 109, was struck 1671-74 and is slightly more available tho still rare. Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814.
