This specimen was lot 485 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €150 (about US$278 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM August der Jüngere, 1635-1666. Reichstaler 1642, Zellerfeld. Etwas Belag, schön-sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Augustus the Younger, 1635-66, thaler of 1642, Zellerfeld mint. Some gunk adhering, fine to very fine.)"
This type of 1639-48 is not listed as rare. The photo in the SCWC shows Dav-6347, not this coin. Numerous "wild man" thalers exist from this state.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
