This specimen was lot 10732 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $717. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Riksdaler, 1632 (MDCXXXII). Gustav II Adolphus (1611-32). Wide bust. Fields tooled. NGC VF Details--Tooled. From the Demarete Collection." This riksdaler was issued 1632 in several varieties to mark the death of the hero of the Protestant cause, Gustavus Adolphus. He was succeeded by his daughter Christina (see Dav-4523), who later converted to Catholicism and abdicated the throne.
