Revision as of 11:31, 19 November 2024 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "1621 dicken" to "1621 dicken, eagle on reverse")
This specimen was lot 4113 in Sincona sale 95 (Zurich, October 2024), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$624 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Batzen 1620, Bern. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, batzen of 1620, Bern mint. Very Fine-Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1617-23 and undated. The reverse legend, "+BERCHT·V·DVX·ZERIN·FVNDATO", likely refers to Berthold V, last duke of Zähringen (r. 1186-1218).
