This specimen was lot 1177 in Sincona sale 93 (Zurich, October 2024), where it sold for 9,000 CHF (about US$12,474 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Nicholas I. 1825-1855, 5 Roubles 1837, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB PD. Sehr selten, Very rare. PCGS AU50."
This type was struck 1832-46 for tsar Nicholas I and is the most available five rubles prior to the weight reduction of 1897. Proofs exist.
Recorded mintage: 48,000, a scarce date.
