Stack's Bowers November 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74481

This specimen was lot 74481 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Denga (1/2 Kopek), 1750. Ekaterinburg or Moscow Mint. Elizabeth I. NGC MS-63 Brown. A well centered and sharply made example of the type with even brown surfaces throughout. Ex: Budanitsky Collection." This type was struck at Ekaterinburg and Moscow without mintmark 1730-1754 and is common in circulated condition. The denomination is written "ДЕНГА" (denga).
