In 1976, the Pinochet regime congratulated itself on its third anniversary by issuing a series of commemoratives ranging from a copper-nickel five pesos (KM 209) to a gold five hundred pesos (KM 214) weighing nearly three ounces. The regime survived by massacring its enemies in large numbers. This type was issued for circulation 1976-80.
