Stephen Album sale 50, lot 651

This specimen was lot 651 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Frederik III, 1648-1670, lead kas, ND, crowned F3 // lamb to left, with flag, letter F above, symbol of Gotland, which was part of Denmark 1361-1645, choice XF, RR, ex Solar Collection." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. This lead cash was struck in over ninety varieties during the reign of Frederik III (died 1670).
