Papal States 1793 4 baiocchi
This type was issued 1777 and 1793-94 for Pius VI (1774-99) from the Rome mint and accompanies the similar eight (KM 1235) and twelve baiocchi (KM 1252) of the same year. It is the last issue of this denomination and does not fit the quasidecimal system adopted in 1740 (ten baiocchi = one giulio, ten giulio = one scudo). This specimen was lot 1320 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Pius VI, 1775-1799, BI 4 baiocchi, 1793, VF."
