Heritage sale 3026, lot 25535

This specimen was lot 25559 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $6,462.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Catherine II gold 10 Roubles 1772-СПБ, Bust right / A cross of four crowned, cruciform shields with the date in the angles, VF30 Details, Cleaned ANACS. Normal wear for the grade, and we doubt that most would consider this example as a 'cleaned' coin." This type was struck 1766-76 and superseded the ten rubles of the Czarina Elizabeth which were 16.59 grams. All dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 51,000.

Specification: 13.08 g, .917 fine gold, .385 troy oz AGW.
