Sincona sale 43, lot 2085

This specimen was lot 2085 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$179 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Braunschweig--Wolfenbüttel, Herzogtum, Wilhelm, 1831-1884 Taler 1837. Braunschweig. Selten. Nur 2788 Exemplare geprägt. Fast sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, William, 1831-84, thaler of 1837, Brunswick mint. Rare. Only 2788 pieces struck, About very fine. NGC VF Details.)"

This type is listed for 1837-38 and is fairly inexpensive considering its limited mintage.
