Fully mirror-like with only a slight sign of evaporation residue to the left of the Soviet arms preventing utter perfection, this stunning gold proof celebrates the 500th anniversary of the Russian state, depicting the Cathedral of the Ascension." The second specimen was lot 34975 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[2] noted, "Russia: U.S.S.R. gold Proof 50 Roubles 1989-(M)MД PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC. Commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Russian state. Deeply appealing proof features throughout with bright reflectivity within the fields and hyper-detailed depictions of the National arms and Cathedral of Ascension." This NCLT was accompanied by gold 100 (KM Y226) and platinum 150 rubles (KM Y227).
